Texas Law: As of 01/01/2016 open carry law allows licensed holders to legally carry their arms publicly. In order to legally deny access to your business or establishment you must display a notice stating that you do not allow arms in your establishment. You may choose to only ban open carry with penal code 30.07 signage, however if you choose to ban both you must display both signs.
Sign Requirements for both concealed and open carry signs as of 01/01/2016:
- Must appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height.
- Must be in both English and Spanish.
- Must be displayed in a “conspicuous manner” at the property’s entrance.
- Must say: “Pursuant to Section 30.07, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly.”
